Document Flow Routing by Verb

Hi,

I was doing some exercises with document flows and I'm curious if it's possible to route a document based on the BOD's verb.

Let me give you an example:

I have an SFTP that send both Sync and Process BODs for ItemMaster, but one of the target activities requires a SyncItemMaster, while the other must work with a ProcessItemMaster.

So what should be the correct way to proceed? Is it even possible to route documents based on the BOD's verb?

Hello,

Unless i am wrong, you can't. Then 2 solutions:

1) 2 different data flows

2) 1 data flow with a python script before your routing activity that will:

- read the XML and get the root element

- compare it to SyncItemMaster or ProcessItemMaster and add a custom_Field1 header property (that you must add in the data catalog) with value 'Sync' or 'Process' for example:

In your routing activity, tab 'Attributes', get property 'Custom_Field1' from Header and test its value. You are now able to route based on 'Sync' or 'Process'

Yes you can using routing functionality. Add a header attribute DocumentName and then add a condition like this

Hi. The Routing activity does not show or allow the option to select a specific Verb, only the Noun. The input documents are not allowed to have different Verb for same Noun. Due to which you preferably have to create a data flow per Verb. Another option (not advised) is to wrap the BOD in a different BOD with only one Verb, which makes it unnecessary complex.

Indeed, after testing it, the best approach is to have two separate data flows and each handling a specific verb. Thanks for the insight!
