Hi we currently have 3 sites that are experiencing the avbove when opening the MTD VAT centre, all happened today.
We have some sites that have no issues - Im just asking if anyone else has had calls like this today?
Thanks
James
Yes, we've also had reports of this, probably a HMRC issue.
HI
This may sound **** but have you checked the Scheduler Service is running on the server. Or maybe restart the service.
I had a couple of sites a few weeks back that the service had just randomly stopped. But neither had an error message stating the service had stopped ?!?
Felicity
Yeah weve done all the usual stopped & started sql & scheduler services......scheduler still works....deleted the authority token in SQL, uninstalled & reinstalled the opera client (which we knew wouldnt make any difference as it was happening on server & all other workstatsions.....we have a list of MTD error messages, but not this one & then when we had two other sites record the same thing, just wondered if it was an issue at HMRCs end.....thanks
Hi James
I had a report of this earlier today. Suggested reboot of machine and checking for Windows updates to be completed on W/station and Server. Had heard nothing back so had assumed it was fixed, but will let you know if I hear anything back.
Carolyn
thanks
Hi
I normally check the following, although it is dependant on people reporting an issue to the HRMC it is mostly correct.
www.gov.uk/.../making-tax-digital-for-vat-service-availability-and-issues
Failing that I do the following on the server which gives a much more detailed error.
Hope that helps
We have had one site report this today
Plus our own in house Opera3 is also giving the same message
I was assuming HMRC issue
thanks everyone for the replies, I think well pass this one as a global HMRC issue!
Some customers with this error message need to be up to date in terms of infrastrucure as older OS's do not support the required TLS or HMRC AFH (AntiFraud Headers). As a best practice, log a case with Pegasus for specific tailored advice.
yeah did that first thing, but as we had three sites, just wondered if other partners had seen the message. thanks
When going into the MTD VAT centre you get a message on every company - EXCEPTION ESCAPED DURING COMMAND EXECUTION. AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE SENDING THE REQUEST.
My gut reaction is that this is due to HMRC getting too many requests for submission and therefore cannot connect to the portal.
If you leave it for a small period and try again then it should work.
Happy Friday
Three sites that had reported the issue all are on Server 2012 R2 (Extended support ended 10/10/2023)
Hi James, are you still having this issue?
we have 2 sites today with the same error
I've encountered this once before in March and it was due to FIPS having been enabled on the server (2012) - disabling FIPS resolved it
However, this time FIPS is not enabled
Debug returns nothing and HMRC comms test returns "unexpected failure - request was aborted." Could not create SSL/TSL secure channel
Both servers are 2012
HI All three of our affected sites are 2012!!!!! We hve just managed to get one upgraded to 2019 & this has resolved the issue - were just contacting the other affacted sites to get their server OS upgraded
It does seem that HMRC have tightened security on the AFHeaders which Pegasus warned me was imminent back in March. The solution being to upgrade from Server 2012. As a workaround for a customer today, I installed sql/scheduler locally and amended the registry to the local install. This has worked and they have submitted. This gives them breathing space to upgrade the server os.
