ACA BN49 and Group Definition
minsoo-kim
Good Day!
We have applied the CTP for ACA and are trying to figure out how to update our benefit groups once the BN149 is run in Update mode and designates an employee as Benefit Status=Eligible? Does anyone know how to get these newly eligible employees into a group definition so they can enroll?

We created a user field in HR11 for the people that are eligible and added that to the HR55 group for the medical plan we wanted them to be eligible for.

Thanks Nicole! So is your plan to update the User field monthly? After you the BN149 and the status gets updated for new hires? It seems so strange to me that Lawson would deliver all this functionality to assess eligibility but fall short of having it actually link to the benefit eligibility so the people can enroll...

Honestly, we haven't thought that far ahead ;-). But yes, with new hires we would update monthly and add the code to the user field in HR11 so they can go in the plan if they elect.

Has anyone come up with a good way to create and maintain an Eligibility Group for folks that are not typically benefit eligible, but are eligible for health per ACA? We were thinking of creating a User Field on the HR11, but are struggling with the maintenance. Do we need separate fields to track the Initial stability period separate from the Standard stability period. How do we track the End Date of our Initial stability periods? As a healthcare organization we have employees constantly coming in and out of benefit eligible positions, and need a way to make sure we don't miss them.

I just created a BN:ACAFT employee group with no criteria. When we need to offer a part-time or PRN employee benefits under ACA, we just add them to the group in HR55.2. I created a monthly audit report that goes to our benefit specialist that lists anyone in that group that moves back to a regular benefit-eligible status. I also created an automated routine that removes employees from the group 13 weeks after they terminate.
