Copy & Paste from Excel to Infor EPM App Studio Dashboard

Hello Experts,

I am facing issues at one customer, as they do some additional calculations in Microsoft Excel and finally copy & paste the results into an INFOR EPM Application Studio Dashboard in order to store the values in the OLAP database.

This workfow accelerates the data entry process as Copy & paste is faster than entering every single value on its own.

The issue they have, the subsidaries from UK, USA and Austria work the same way, but when pasting the values, the decimal and the thousands separator cause some isses as numbers are changed we being pasted.

For example 100.524,302 get's 100, or 5,354.87 gets 5354 ....

So is there anyone around here, working of the same way and not having any issues as mentioned above?

I'll be happy to get input, ideas and hints for implementation of how to get this working.

Hi Peter,

copy/paste from Excel to EPM works with number formats if you have the same decimal and thousand separator in both systems. Your example looks like they have German (or equivalent) country settings in Excel but English (or equivalent) settings in EPM. So EPM reads the point as as decimal separator (while it is meant as a thousand separator), and vice versa.

Excel will get the country settings from the control panel. EPM will use the first language in the language settings to determine the settings.

Hi,

in my experience with this, the language setting of the browser seems to be responsible.

A workaround might be to read in the data unformatted (without thousands separator) and to try SUBSTITUTE() so that commas become dots?

Hello Peter,

maybe silly question but why they don't do the writeback in Excel Integration? Is that because they use some custom process/calculation after the write/paste? Or is there any other reason?
