Issues with Opera VFP & Outlook not responding

Good morning all, had a issues with outlook and Opera? Mailto: works but when you try email out of Opera you just get the not responding message. Assume it's the latest version of outlook (not new outlook)

Anybody know the the latest build which works with 2.96 or 2.97 ? Tried looking in the documentation but could not find the correct pdf

Morning Richard,

Just a thought as any issues were we see this have usually come down to the Outlook not being installed as an application on the desktop?

Hello Richard,

We have not had any issues reported here.
Please check the following:

Outlook must be set as default email client.

Outlook must be set as default app assigned to MAILTO: protocol.

Outlook must be setup to use Cached Mode and the Windows Host file cleared of any lookups for old exchange servers.

More information on how Opera3 communicates with Outlook, with further steps below:

In some cases, when Outlook is busy, Opera cannot connect to it, and you get the "Unable to email at present" message. In these cases, the only thing to do is close both Opera and Outlook down and restart them again.
By restarting them, Opera will create a new public MAPI object.

The Publisher uses the MAPI object to communicate with Outlook via the relevant APIs. The MAPI object is instantiated only once when user is logged in to Opera and is used by Opera while the Opera session is open. Restarting Opera and Outlook will ensure that the object is recreated.

Additionally:

If only one user is experiencing the 'unable to email at present' message, there is a possibility that the Outlook profile could be corrupt. Try setting up a new Outlook profile for the user that is experiencing the problem.

Thanks, beenneed working fine for Years and stopped working last Friday. Tried normal stuff - new outlook profile and even new windows profile. Same issue. Just started down the route of downloading Office. The reason I asked about the builds is because I can nolonger email from my laptop. Same issue - seems too much of a coincidence. We are both running windows 11

Its recommended they are using the semi-annual update channel to prevent feature updates causing problems.
Can you advise on the MS Office Build & Version?

Just an update, 5 hours later and i've resolved this issue. It was the Opera PDF printer, found by chance. When I unticked use PDF printer in user preference it could email. I then deleted the Opera PDF printer and re-installed the client which re-added the printer. I then re-ticked Use PDF printer in user preferences. Thanks for your feedback
