Gateway Time-out , Code: 504 for ION API flow (data lake APIs)

I have a warning message in MT while triggering API flow has Data lake APIs , it shows the below message for a long time without any progress, and keep re-trigger the data lake APIs without go to the end of the flow. what is the reason and how to fix this?

A 504 Gateway timeout indicates that the gateway did not receive a response from the target server in timeout interval. Which API have you configured in the ION API connection point?

By default, the ION API connection point retries requests that encounter 504 errors. However, you can override this setting within the ION API connection point itself.
