Opera.ini is missing

A user who has been using opera 3 on a pc without issue has given their pc to a colleague and when the new colleague logs in the get a message that opera ini is missing and needs to be installed

I accept the obvious the opera.ini may need to be installed but why is this the case if the install was working before

Could this be user permissions on the program data folder for the new user

It could be but it would be unusual as all users have read, write and execute permissions to programdata by default I think. If the new users logs in and then checks if they can get into c:programdatapegasus just in Windows Explorer it should confirm or otherwise.

You can recreate the error by backing up your opera.ini first in the Opera 3 Client VFP folder and then putting an obvious bogus path as per below example. As it cannot resolve the server name it will give you the error.

You should begin by checking that the paths in the Opera.ini are firstly resolvable and that the user has permission to the share.
