Has anyone implemented the Enterprise Model in the late LN versions? I know that it used to be a nightmare to maintain when it used to be called DEM in BaanIV. How easy or difficult is it compared to straight up role based authorizations?
Thanks.
Hello, We have DEM implemented with on-premise Infor LN 10.7. It's practically the same as BaanIV. We simply migrated it over with basically no adjustments.
One pretty big difference between Baan IV and LN is that you don't have to maintain the session permissions for anyone using the process modeler - the session permissions are defined from DEM. In general, the desktop/menu generation process is much simpler in LN, IMO.
Thanks for your reply. I know that a lot of Baan customers decided against using the DEM due to the heavy maintenance and the performance issue. How large is your organization (# of users)? And how often do you have to modify/update the DEM?
We have DEM working in 4 companies in Italy and North America. Users range from 10 users in 1 company to over100 users in another. PRocesses and Roles were defined back in BaaNIV. We rarely update processes unless new sessions are created. We do create new DEM users and assign roles to new users and/or revise roles on a weekly basis. Very simple though. Nothing basically changed from 20 years ago (I don't know if that's positive or negative :-) )
