How to Delete a Note on Employee Profile

Hi all - we are looking to clean up and streamline our notes process/reasons, but to begin we need to delete existing notes from employee profiles in order to delete and rename reason types.

Unfortunately, we can't figure out how to do this. The Delete option is present on the report, but is greyed out. No matter how I try to access the note (from profile, etc) there are no options to delete or modify a note in any way. 

Can anyone help explain what we're missing here?

We had this issue recently, but in the situation were a note had been loaded against the incorrect employee record.  The steps we followed were:

1 - Right click the note and click open

2 - On the View Note window, click submit

3 - Once submitted, right click the note again, and the delete option should have magically appeared.
