FSM - Item Locations - Updating Bin Tracked Flag on Item Location Record when there is an open PO or

Howdy all,

Just wanted to check if anyone is aware of a setting in the Supply Chain Admin role that allows an Item Location to update an item location to Bin Tracked while there are open POs for that item or open warehouse demand lines?

We have some scenarios for Hospitality where food items are on order every day or where there are aged MNR lines and are unable to update our bin tracked flag on these items.

We recently had an issue with one of our bin-tracked items. Any shipment with the item could not be finalized due to a "detail quantity is out of balance" error.

In Item Locations, the item showed plenty of stock on hand, but when checking its Stock By Detail, there was nothing there.

To resolve, we had to get the item to a zero-demand status (deleted all open requisitions for the item). We found that supply staff had been manually issuing the items and adjusting inventory since the error prevented issuing the items through Infor. Therefore, we were able to simply delete the pending requisitions without having to adjust the item's inventory position.

Once there was no demand for the item, we navigated to its Main tab in Item Locations. We made note of the Preferred Bin and then cleared it out. We also turned off Bin Tracked, and then saved the changes. Then we immediately restored the settings and saved it again.

After that, the item's Stock By Detail tab showed the Preferred Bin location, with the SOH Quantity equal to the item's Inventory Balance. These now stay in sync as the item is issued and replenished.

All that being said, I think you'll have to get your items to a zero-demand position before turning on bin tracking and setting preferred locations.
