actor org unit setup

currently we do not use the Actor Org Unit feature but plan to. We have zero users assigned to any actor org unit. Is assigning a user to actor org unit as simple as running a mass job that assigns a AOU based on primary job in work assignments? i'm hoping this doesn't have to be done via ISD.

Based on the information in your question, it sounds like you are looking to assign Actor Contexts to all your employees. Depending on the context you are attempting to assign, this can be very easy (no ISD) or it may call for using ISD (still somewhat easy; don't be afraid of ISD, it can be one of your best friends!).

If I'm right, and you need to create actor context records for the attribute you are trying to assign (HROrganization, AccountingUnit, HCMAccountingUnit). Someone with a security role that can navigate to Security Administrator would create the Context first.

Then, search for the Actor Context Template. This is useful for assigning Actor Contexts to all users. It might get a little difficult depending on how many different values you may have for the context and how many different actors need this assigned to them. This is where possibly ISD may be the better route to go.

Hey Noe,

There is no mass job to assign AOU to users, however if you add someone to the top level of the structure it does cascade through all sub levels. I'm not sure how big the size of your organization is but this would only need to be done for users who utilize the actor org unit roles. This can be done via ISD, added into an IPA or done manually.

this is what i was needing to confirm because i was finding the same answer in documentation which is there is no mass job to auto assign. Thank you for your reply.

Hey Noe,

I'm an implementation partner, we have implemented AOU security with numerous customers even before the release of these new roles. This release is an even further enhancement on the set of roles that were previously available, it works very well.
