Pull HROrganization Code into Report and not Description

Hi. We are trying to create our S3 reports in GHR Create Report feature, and I am not having any luck in pulling the HROrganization code into the report. Any field I select pulls the description and not the code. I can pull it using ISD and I can see the field name when I do Ctrl/Shft click on the field. But when I select the same field from the same business class in Create Report it keeps returning the description. I've tried different business classes and relationships and can't find any field that pulls the code.

Does anyone else have an issue in pulling the code? If not, could you share what field you are using?

For us, at least, it's the following:

HROrganizationUnit = the sequence number of the record. The 20th Org Unit we added would be show a value of "20" here.
HROrganizationUnit.ShortDescription = the 5/6 character short description we applied to the unit when we created it. "FOOD07", for example.
HROrganizationUnit.Description = the 'long' description of the unit. "Food Service - 7th Floor", for example.

It can get more complicated if the report you're trying to add isn't on the HROrganizationUnit business class. If you have a list on Employee, for example, your personalization needs to reflect the LPL string that will associate the data correctly. Since Org Unit lives on an employee's Work Assignment and not directly on the Employee table, you need to use the Relation between Employee and WorkAssignment to get that data. That's a super common one and is build in as PrimaryWorkAssignment. So, if you're trying to take an active report from the Employee business class and add each employee's Org Unit as a column, you'd need to add your field as PrimaryWorkAssignment.HROrganizationUnit (or one of the others above) to make that relationship work correctly.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for responding. However, My issue is not with trying to pull the HROrganizationUnit.. It is the actual HROrganization code. Ex. Our HROrganization code is 10. The description for it is Aultman Health Foundation. We need the 10 pulled into the report, however every field I select that states it is the HROrganization field pulls the description. I would have thought like with other codes if I wanted Aultman Health Foundation I would pull the Description field. If I am selecting the HROrganization field that in ISD and on the setup screen shows as it a 10 then I should be pulling a 10 into the report.

Do you pull the HROrganization Code into any of your reports?

If we need the code, we are pulling HROrganizationUnit.ShortDescription

You can edit the LPL for your report by adding "display as select" to get this working for you. For example,

We have also used this for Union/BargainingUnit fields which behave the same way as HROrganization.

Thanks. I do not have access to the LPL as a user. I will have our IT area look at this. Doesn't make sense that you would have to do this for every report to pull what the values should be. Is there a global setting that says to display as select for this field so you don't have to change the LPL on every report?

Interesting, for us we just use HROrganizationUnit and that displays the sequencing number you're referring to. Is the Report you're trying to create with the CreateReport button on the HROrganizationUnit business class? If you click the "Data Source" tab while setting it up or personalizing it, you'll see which business class you're in. If it's a custom class, you may have an override that's defaulting it to the Description but it should natively return the number if you're not adding ".Description" or ".ShortDescription" to the end of it.

For the HROrganization code on LPL lists and reports, we have to enter HROrganization.HROrganization. This gives us the code instead of the long text description.
