Multiple Report Editors

Is there a way that multiple people can edit reports in FSM/GHR without having to modify the LPL in config console? We have a couple of report writers in our supply chain area that would like to be able to modify reports the other wrote but the only way to update from the report is if you're the owner.

If it's the master copy of a report, you could give them access to Personalize with the ActorRole PersonalizationAccess_ST. Then they'd just go into Options -> Personalize -> Create and they can add columns, remove them, rearrange them, set a filter, etc.

If you're saying someone made a report with the CreateReport feature so it lives on the UserFolder business class, generally only that report's Owner can make changes to it. Your downstream users would go to that report, use CreateReport themselves and then make changes, but they can't edit someone else's report. The current owner could go into My Reports and use the Change Owner option to pass ownership around, but it's much more stable to just create it as a listview master copy and let people personalize.

It'd be annoying for you to maintain but the other option is to use the UserList business class. You can create personalizations for users who you may not want to give the role to and then you can tweak the LPL of that single user's version on the UserList business class to manually make changes.

Thanks Michael. Can you clarify what you mean by a master copy of a report? Are you referring to lists that are built in LPL (either delivered or custom) that are available through menus and not via the Report Catalog?

Sure, 'master copy' is just what I call a List that's hardcoded in LPL. If you went into Config Console -> LPL Viewer -> Lists, you'd see those records here. These are basically available for anyone and are shared throughout your organization.

You probably have custom Lists, too, and each one of those has a single master copy under Config Console -> Explore -> Configurations.

Those lists may or may not be currently displayed through menus. We have many that are in production but we leave them off of menus so that they can only be access with a direct URL. Either way, this single configuration is the master copy. Let's say you have one called Employee.FavoritePizzaShops that lists each employee and their favorite pizza shop.

You may have 5 people who have personalized that master report to add their own stuff to it. If you went to the UserList business class and searched 'Employee.FavoritePizzaShops' then you'd see six records, the master copy plus those five personalizations. If you make updates to the master, anyone else accessing that report through a menu or URL would see whatever is on the master copy while the five users who have personalized the report would maintain their current view based on their personalization. There's a button that lets you overwrite personalizations but, assuming you don't use that whenever you update the LPL, those users just keep the same data displayed on their list.

By contrast, what Infor refers to as Reports are basically just Lists that some individual has 'created' via the CreateReport option (it's called a few different things) via either an existing List's menu options or within the Report Catalog or MyReports directly.

These reports are owned by one person and, if that person has the access to Personalize, they can change them with that option. If not, they can either use the CreateReport button again to duplicate their report & make their intended changes, or an admin could go into UserList and edit them there. It's the same thing as editing LPL, just that it doesn't need to be done via Config Console because it's just one user's copy of a report, not the master itself.

Either way, an admin can go into UserList and make changes to lists/reports. It sounds like you're referring to a report available through Report Catalog, though, so that'd usually going to be a collection of user-created reports that all have one Owner. While they can be shared with groups of people for visibility, I don't think you can set it so that multiple non-admins can have access to edit that one report. Your admins could either edit that master copy (which would reflect the changes for anyone looking at it) or your end users could Personalize. If they have access to Personalize but can't do it on that specific report, it's because it is indeed a CreateReport and the settings won't let someone else Personalize one of those if they're not the Owner. In that case, those users should just click CreateReport themselves and basically make their own copy to do with what they'd please.

To be able to use the UI to edit the report for now you'd have to pass ownership around between the report writer group using the Reassign Report Owner action. You could put an ER in to request some sort of OwnerGroup (which might end up being an ActorGroup).
