Hello, curious if others have come across this, and how they might have handled it:
For 01/01/2025 benefits, we used a passive open enrollment. The setup shows Passive Enrollment = Enroll with Preselected Benefits; Preselect Benefits; Preselect Date Option = Enrollment Date. Initially, our hope was that we could finalize everyone's enrollments at the end of OE, regardless of whether they actually enroll or not. However, our issue came when we had some people whose benefits had changed since their enrollment record was created. The finalization moved them back to their old benefits, rather than their newly changed benefits.
Example, I am in Dental Employee + Family effective 01/01/2024. My 01/01/2025 open enrollment record was created on 10/01/2024. During open enrollment (and outside of the OE event), I change from Employee + Family to Employee Only. I do not utilize OE, so my record stays in Draft Status. When HR goes to finalize my benefits, my 01/01/2025 record shows Employee + Family, rather than Employee only.
Our workaround this year was to finalize only Submitted Enrollments, then we used Benefit Plan Updates to stop and restart the remaining records. Does anyone do anything any differently? Any recommendations? It seems like the system only looks at benefits during the enrollment event creation, and any changes past that are ignored.
