Hi Everyone,
I would like to bring attention to ER111182. I opened this ER a few months ago, at the suggestion of Infor Support, because users cannot save adhoc reports as dashboards with Edit Dashboard permissions. In order to save adhoc reports and dashboards publicly, users need Edit Application permissions. The EPM Permissions wiki describes Edit Dashboards and Edit Applications permissions as follows:
1. Edit Application grants the following access: 'Bearers can edit the application properties, manage content connections, add lists, calculations, variables, aliases, tasks, and shared media. They can add, update and delete languages and database descriptions.'
2. Edit Dashboard grants the following access: 'Bearers can edit dashboards.'
I feel Edit Dashboard permissions should grant a user the ability to edit and save dashboards. This follows the Least Privilege Principle, and users who need the ability to edit & save dashboards would not be granted an unnecessary level of EPM access/permissions.
Our EPM users use the adhoc tool frequently, and we prefer using the adhoc tool to Self-Service for multiple reasons (easier to use, quicker to use, same format online as the Excel add-in), and it would be a plus for our team to be able to save key dashboard views centrally so that they can be accessed by other users.
Is there anything I'm missing? Any reason that Edit Applications is a better permissions level than Edit Dashboards?
If you agree with me, please feel free to endorse ER111182. Thanks!
