855 POA's From Abbott

When we bring in an EDI 855 from Abbott, they almost always have updated the delivery date for lines to the same date as when the Purchase Order was placed. This updates our early delivery date to the same date as the PO date, which is not helpful. Does anyone else have this issue? Any workarounds from anyone?

A series of enhancements to 855 and Acknowledgment processing led to this behavior. The primary cause is EDI translation of the 855 processing dates in a DTM or ACK segment with shipment qualifiers as if they were delivery qualifiers. in you scenario, probably what the acknowledgment is saying is that the product is shipped or scheduled to ship same day you placed order. example:

ACK^IA^1^EA^068^20250110~ "068" - Current Scheduled Ship. "067" would be "Current Scheduled Delivery"

Currently they are not treated differently.

the workaround that I can think of is to set "Delivery Tolerance Option" on the Purchasing vendor. Select "Disable Delivery Tolerance" to not update the delivery date for orders from the Abbot Vendor.

Yes, we had the same issue. Brenth describes it well. I would simply add that there is some (somewhat confusing) documentation on this topic to be found in Buyer > Purchase Order Fact Sheets > SUPPLYMANAGEMENTLEADTIMES_ST (Lead times in Purchase Order and Requisitions). Page 8 talks about updating of the Early Delivery Date and Late Delivery Date from the PO Acknowledgment.

High-level, from my understanding when troubleshooting with vendors, is that many are sending their ship/processing date on the acknowledgment line and not an actual ETA, which is what the Infor system is interpreting that date as. To make it simple for us, we fully disabled this at the Purchasing Company level, though as Brenth described, you could do it for individual Purchasing Vendors, instead.

Ryan, thank you for the response. We would like to keep it enabled for the Purch Company, but I wasn't aware I could turn off at the Purch Vendor level until Brenth mentioned it. Plan to disable at vendor level. Thanks again!

Yes! We encountered that same situation as well and disabled it for some vendors.

I also have an open ER to help with this - 107578 Improved Early Delivery Date Logic From EDI ACK04 Values. Looks like it is in development, so I'm excited/hopeful to see how it improves things once it is implemented.

Hi Tanner,

Are you seeing this behavior (sending PO delivery date same as the PO date) from all the Abbott divisions or just certain ones? We have each of the Abbott Divisions (Vascular, Diagnostics, Nutrition, etc.) set up as separate vendors.

We saw this with the Vascular division. It looks like we don't get an 855 from Nutrition division for some reason. Those are the two we do business with on a regular basis.
