Hello everyone,
How are you guys using ActorGroup for sharing reports? For context, I'm referring to the space you see when viewing a list, clicking the three dots and then clicking Create Report. This opens a screen similar to the Personalize screen and you have a box at the top for sharing:

If you set Sharing to Group, you can then link an ActorGroup to allow the users within that group to see this report. This works, but I have a few questions for the group:
1. Has anyone figured out how to share one report to multiple ActorGroup records? If I want HRIS and Talent to see it, for example, I currently have to make two separate reports to share with each or create a new ActorGroup that includes all of the users from both groups. Preferably, I'd have the option to just separate with a semicolon or something for multiple entries.
2. For ActorGroup in general, I've found the Parent/Child settings to be bizarre. I suspect that the tiered build of the business class was intended to allow us to do something like this, which would basically negate my need from #1:
- Human Resources (100 total users)
- Talent Acquisition (60 total users)
- Generalists (15 total users)
- Benefits (10 total users)
- HRIS (5 total users)
So then, if I wanted to share a report with everyone in the HR group, I would select that and all 100 users would be able to see it. Likewise, if I only wanted the 5 in HRIS to see the report, I'd share it exclusively to HRIS. To be clear, the five users in the HRIS group are independently members of both the HR group as well as the HRIS group, I'm not just assuming that 100 number is the sum of those in the smaller groups.
What we're actually seeing is different, though. Take an example like this:
- Food Service
- Building 1 (7 total users)
- Building 2 (10 total users)
- Building 3 (5 total users)
If I share a report to the ActorGroup for Building 3, what's happening is anyone under the Food Service parent group is able to see the group. It's almost like it's qualifying the Parent first, seeing that the Child beneath it is being included and then grants visibility to both groups. I only want the five in Building 3 to see the report, though, not all 22 users.
We haven't configured this space and, when I asked Infor about this, they said it was desired functionality. Does that sound backwards to anyone else, too? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong but I'd really like to get to a point where I can make more dynamic combinations of users for shared reports and it seems like the bones to make it possible are here, it's just that I'm not seeing the results I'd expect. Thanks for reading!
