Is anyone controlling the schedule of shipment picking? If so, I would be interested in learning about your setup.
We have many requesting locations to which we deliver only once a week. Today, a requester may submit a requisition anytime. We then pick the inventoried items on the shipment the same day -- presuming no backorder -- but if the delivery day is not the following day, then the product may sit on a flatbed for an extended period of time. To help conserve space, we wondered if there might be a way we could better control this shipment picking so that we are essentially preparing the flatbeds the day before the location's delivery day.
A few other notes:
- We use MSCM for picking.
- We would want demand to still be applicable with regard to available SOH levels, though we are uncertain how this might affect physical SOH and reordering if demand is sitting for several days.
- The Warehouse Pick List Print job has a Requesting Location Group field in the Filters section, which seemed applicable, but I cannot find the details on creating these groups, even in Edit mode from the field selection tool.
