Text Variable Replacement: Name Change Process

Hello, I'm working on an email template that will be sent when someone submits for a name change. I'm having trouble figuring out the LPL to display "old" preferred name and "new" preferred name (the preferred name that was requested). They aren't available in the delivered text variable replacement fields. Can someone assist? I feel like I'm so close -

{lpl:old Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName} <--- this works

{lpl:new Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName} <---- this doesn't

Have you tried simply removing the word new?

{lpl:Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName} is going to return whatever the value is currently so, if it's correctly identifying that the old one has already become the old one, I'd imagine the data update has completed by the time that lpl is firing.

Sorry, I should have clarified. This is the email that is going to HR while the request is still pending, So I guess I'm looking for pending and current preferred name

Hi Rachel!

Were you aware that there's already a spot to add these email templates in the setup section? Name and Address Change don't work the same as many of the other processes. Path is Admin > Setup > Email > Email Templates, then use the "Resource" tab. From there, if you need to notify HR that the change has been submitted, add "HRContact" as either the To or CC for them to receive. When looking at this delivered functionality, the Old and New variables do exist - see attached for our version:

Thank you! Yes, that's the exact email template I'm using, but the specific text variables I'm looking for aren't in the drop down. I'm looking for preferred first and last name - their current, and what they are requesting it to be.

I am so sorry I missed that in your initial ask! Have you tried just using the same as the other "old" components - {OldPreferredGivenNameFirst} {OldPreferredFamilyNameLast} ? Since the proposed data would be sitting in the same spot, I wonder if the LPL would be necessary.

"old Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName" should work to display the old/existing name, and for the new (or name they are changing to) simply just the field "Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName"

This doesn't work because the "new" preferred name hasn't been approved yet. So if I just do Employee.Name.PreferredGivenName, it pulls the old preferred name.

I submitted a ticket and they said it's not possible, and that I should submit an enhancement request. Bummer!
