Scheduled Report Book Output with POV / Report Parameters Selection

Hi all

I have an automated process in ION which makes use of the BI Application Manager product and StartAsynchronousExport operation to generate Excel output from a book; this is then parsed using ION scripting to generate an outbound file format for an external system.

In order to run this report book export, I'm hoping to be able to change the Report Parameters selection for successive report book runs such that I can schedule the report book export without needing to create multiple versions of the book to be individually called.

For example, I can run the book for either the Version Budget or Forecast, select a Year, and a Unit (property).

There doesn't appear to be any obvious way to accomplish this task, and support has not been forthcoming, but did suggest the community as an option to try and find a solution.

Any ideas where to begin?

Hi Leith,

you can use Application Engine code to control the export of report books. The functions BookExportProfileAddSelection and BookExportProfileClearSelections will let you define the content of the variables that you want to use, e.g. "Budget" or "Forecast" for "Version" (always using unique names).

In ION, you can run Application Engine routines as part of your workflows, using the BI/ApplicationEngine endpoint from the "Infor d/EPM" API.

All of this isn't exactly trivial, and you may want to get some input from experienced consultants (someone better than me). But once set up, it is quite straightforward to manage.
