Please consider endorsing enhancement request 116672- ability to add a contract proposal to an exist

Good morning,

Please consider endorsing enhancement 116672 for the ability to add a contract proposal as a line to an existing contract.

With current contract proposals, there is no way to have the requester propose a contract and have the proposal added to an existing contract as a line item. This creates more work for the contract admin. We would have to close the contract that was created from the proposal and have a line manually added to the existing contract by the contract admin.

Hi Kim. Thanks for posting this to the Community! I'm curious to know your and the Community's thoughts on something here:

- Are your Requesters/Proposers typically trying to add Line Items to a Contract? If so, are these true goods/supply lines, or are they Service-type lines, or either/both?

- Would it be more efficient if we were to offer a way for Requesters to submit a type of request outside of Contract Proposals wherein they can specify a Contract for which they'd like to suggest new lines? I understand that you don't want users to have to build the entire Proposal, only to end up with a Draft Contract that must be managed/closed by the CM.

Good morning Ryan,

As we are testing out contract proposals, we saw this process mostly beneficial for services type lines.

We could see a request for services that would be considered a brand new contract or a line that needs to be added to an existing contract. Our requesters most of the time would not know if there is an existing contract or not. They would submit a contract proposal knowing that they need to request a service contract.

Is there the possibility of once the contract proposal in draft status has been reviewed and approved by our Sourcing/Contracts Team, that there is an option to link the draft contract to an existing contract as a line item? This would be an additional option along side accepting or rejecting proposed contract from the contract proposal.

Option of Accept-Add to contract as line item- pop up will appear to enter in contract number- line is created on contract and references back to the contract proposal number on the contract line

Thanks Kim! I do like this idea and your description helps me see where you are coming from. Let me think about it a bit and see if there's something we can suggest. While I know Contracts can be linked at the header level, I at the moment I don't believe we have a good way of "promoting" select lines from a Proposal/Draft Contract to an existing, Live Contract.

Full disclosure - we are currently working on an enhancement to improve Contract Change Orders, and I believe the current state of Contract Change Orders does allow suggestion of new lines for Contracts with a purchase type of Service. But it sounds like your requesters may not always know there is an existing Contract to which lines may "simply" need to be proposed and added. That said, maybe Change Orders isn't quite the right avenue...
