Morning, anybody know if there is a patch available? Big job installing .03 after we've already had to install .01
Thanks
Rick
Hi Rcik
Please check with Pegasus for yourself but this is clarification we have had from them:
Version 2.99.03 is now available to download. The issue only affects customers processing in the new 2025/26 tax year who have directors who are paid annually on their payroll.
To manage this efficiently:
On the back of this Pegasus need to have a more consistent way of releasing the updated software instead of putting it through on a KB
With the amount of sites that we upgrade we have been checking the download centre daily for updates and it is still sitting at 2.99.01
Download Center : Product Information : Pegasus Financial Management
What do Pegasus mean by annually paid directors? Is it relating to the director flag S, T or blank? And is a UDS required? Pegasus Support don't know the answer
Thanks for this Tony, is there a setting on the Director in Opera to determine this? I'm only familiar with the ADV setting for NI payments
I'm with you on this Andrea, it needs to be explained to us so we can clearly define the parameters to the customers to find out if they need the upgrade or not. This is so poor and untimely given the release of 2.99 was a week late to begin with on top of then 2.99.01 :-(
I think it is more about when they are paid - some only get payment in the last period of the year rather than monthly...
Thanks Tony, I've raised a case with Pegasus to see if we can get a clear definition before sending out comms to customers as we need to be 100% with our wording so not to create mass panic :-)
Hi Claire
Have you had more information from Pegasus the last statement released still doesn't make sense to me. My understanding of Directors NI is that Month 12 is calculated the same no matter how they pay NI during the year it's just if they are paying monthly then the amount already paid is taken off the yearly calculation and then they pay the difference. (I had the misfortune of having to look into this as one year it didn't work properly !).
So in theory as long as they are updated before month 12 we are OK however the statement suggests that we don't need to upgrade if they are calculated on a monthly basis which doesn't make sense.
Many Thanks
Felicity
happy days its updated :-)
Hi all,
Just got an update from Pegasus to advise there is a further communication hopefully coming later today :-)
RegardsClaire
Heads up - I've logged an incident with Pegasus support regarding the NI tables for the current tax year after upgrading to v2.99.01+
This relates to the table effective from 06/04/2024.
Prior to upgrade table 2 for NI ER's columns D, E, K and N were populated with 13.80. Post upgrade the same table (now table 1) these columns are blank.
Prior to upgrade table 2 for NI EE's columns D, E, and N were populated with 2.00 / 3.85 /10.00. Post upgrade the same table (now table 1) these columns are blank.
Pegasus have accepted this as a defect under Opera-8407 and advised that this only affects those customers in investment zones (Liverpool City Region, North East, East Midlands and West Midlands). Freeports are unaffected.
The plan is to fix this issue in v2.99.10 subject to testing and development, they do not have a date for this at the moment. As a workaround the table can be manually populated in Opera. However, I am still waiting on confirmation on how to fix any historical pay periods where the NI has been calculated incorrectly, as there may be some sites where they have run a payroll in the current tax year since upgrading to v2.99.01+.
Directors National Insurance issue – Opera 3 (2.99.01) – All variants
An issue has been identified in the calculation of Directors National Insurance, as follows:
Where the tax year is 2025/26 and regardless of pay frequency, the Employers National Insurance contribution is not being calculated correctly. This will be applicable once the directors’ earnings exceed the Secondary Threshold for normal Director’s calculations (the Adv field on the Payroll Processing form is set to either blank or T). However, the Employers National Insurance calculation would also be incorrect for a “Special” Director (Type S) in the final pay period of 2025/26.
Employer National Insurance contributions in 2025/26 for Non-Director employees are calculated correctly.
Opera 3 (2.99.03) – SCR OPERA-8389
The above issue has been resolved in all product variants of version Opera 3 (2.99.03) which is currently available. Pegasus advise that users with Opera 3 (2.99.01) installed are upgraded at the earliest opportunity to ensure that the Employers National Insurance contribution on Directors pay is calculated correctly.
Please be aware that it is not necessary to upgrade software before the end of the 2024/25 payroll year, the issue will not occur before the first pay run of 2025/26 tax year therefore an upgrade to version 2.99.03 should be implemented prior to the first pay run of 2025/26.
Note:
Update Data Structures is not required for sites who have installed Opera 3 (2.99.01) previously.
Anyone noticed that the NI tables supplied with 2.99.03 are incorrect?
I've copied from statutory tables & table 2 LEL is higher than the ST level & it tells you when you edit the table so I'm not sure how it's been saved & shipped out like that, I got around it by moving ST to rate 4, LEL then to rate 2 & ST back to 3 which is then correct
Hi Steve
Have you raised this with Pegasus?
I have Claire, Frank was unaware of what I meant until we discussed it
The tables are correct if you look at HMRC NI Thresholds page ( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rates-and-thresholds-for-employers-2025-to-2026#class-1-national-insurance-thresholds )
ST is lower than the LEL
I think pegasus just need to get rid of the error message
Except the 15% doesn't show on the rows for ST to LEL.
I find it strange that the tables on 2.99.01 are different to the tables on 2.99.03 - I'm not disputing that the figures may be correct what I'm saying is that it's not possible in the tables of any version to have the ST lower than the LEL, Opera will not allow you to set it like that & save the table
I'm not convinced the figures are correct. My reading is that it should be 15% above the ST line so there are some 15%' missing.
I've raised a support call so let's see the response
