posting to a previous period

Hi Everyone

Looking for some advice. If a user has run a nominal period end and then a few weeks later they need to past some recuring bank transactions into that period

After posting the transactions does the period end have to be rerun for that period or not?

is it they just need to rerun any reports taken at the time

Hi Andrew,

There would never be an occasion when you would re-run the period-end as it's just not possible (unless I've got that wrong) and it depends on if you've got OPA enabled or not on how you post back to a previous period but either way yes, reports would need re-ran for the period affected :-)

The Client is using OPA so do they just need to reopen the period, post transaction, print reports and the close the period again

Hi Andrew, I don't have many sites using OPA but I believe that yes, you need to re-open the period and any subsequent periods to affect balance forward figures - if they've cashbook this needs done for both cashbook and nl.

I would always advise that the user has a backup taken and ran the TB report for the period and ytd before doing the posting so they can then re-run the same TB period for period and YTD to then compare and make sure they are happy before proceeding.
