Invoices outside of Lawson using Peachtree
cpashley
Our organization uses Peachtree to create invoices for services rendered. We are looking to replace Peachtree and I was wondering what other Lawson clients are using and does the software you use allow you to integrate the information to Lawson without addins or journal entries.

Wow, you got a lot of action on this one.
Did you end up replacing Peachtree? We use the Lawson Billing module and are not very impressed. We are looking for options that are able to be imported into Lawson. One suggestion was QuickBooks.

Jeff, I'd like to hear about your experience with the Lawson Billing module. We are getting ready to implement it next month.

We have not removed Peachtree yet. We have used Peachtree since we went live with Lawson in 2004. When Lawson was presenting their sales pitch, the salesman told us to stay with Peachtree then because he did not think that it could match Peachtree. I was just hoping that someone is using Lawson and find it to be beneficial so we don't have to process journal entries at the end of the month

It is extremely clunky to create invoices within Lawson. It requires you to go to several different screens to create an invoice.
There isn't a way to create past due notices, the only way it can be done is by reprinting the invoice and hand writing 'PAST DUE' on it before mailing.
There has to be a full cycle of 5 different Lawson jobs which we scheduled to run nightly before you can create a credit memo. Then another 5 Lawson jobs before you can apply the credit to the invoice (min 3 day process).
There isn't company groups for the jobs so AR/BL processing jobs require one for every Company in Lawson.

How do you like Peachtree?

Wow - I am going to share this with the Business Owners. I don't think Finance will want to have to do all of this extra work when we use Peachtree on such a small scale. Patient billing is done through Cerner. We use Peachtree strictly for small departments that invoice customers for services(meals, supplies, etc.) We like Peachtree very much. We have not upgraded Peachtree and they were talking about upgrading which is what led to this inquiry. With Peachtree - there are not nearly the number of steps you are discussing here. Customers are created, accounts are created, reports are ran and can be done in excel - those reports are then used to upload journal entries into Lawson. There is none of that going from screen to screen as you had mentioned with Lawson
