Copy GL accounts from accounting unit A to accounting unit B (same company)
Legacy Contributor
I want to copy GL accounts from an accounting unit to different accounting unit within the same company. I looked at GL121 but it doesn't seem to alllow you to copy within the same company but to a different accounting unit.
Is there a Lawson program that will accomplish this for me?

You can copy GL accounts form one accounting unit to another by using GL20.4 Mass Add Accounts. You can access the form by selecting "Accounts" on the GL20.1 and then "Mass Add" on GL20.2.

Thanks for the info but I just got a clearer explanation of what they want done. The manager created multiple new accounting units (A,B,C,D,..) and did the mass add from accounting unit (E) then went into accounting unit E and made a lot of accounts inactive. The manager now wants to mass update the new accounting units with those inactive accounts. She said deleting the accounts from the new accounting units and starting from scratch is not an option. It appears that I now need to find or create a GL20 upload that changes the Active flag, if possible.

To do a upload to GL20.2 you only need the Function Code, Company, AU, Account and Sub account fields on the spreadheet. When you run the Upload Wizard make sure you run it with Change Only.

On other forms that are similar to this one, I have had to incorporate a [PositionTo] value so it moved the record I wanted to update to the first position on the screen otherwise the wrong data record got update. The other problem is that I need to update the staus code which is on the GL20.3. Is it easier to use Addins to upload changes to the GLCHARTDTL table instead of trying to use the sub-forms of GL20?

..or you could use the GL122 program to change the account status of a range of accounts from active to inactive.

Correction on my last response. I meant to say GLMASTER instead of GLCHARTDTL.

Build your upload for GL20.2 and use the hidden fields (preceded by H) to change the statuses etc on GL20.3. You will need to list the account number twice in your upload. Once for field 14 Position to and once for field 17 Account. I use f7, f8, f14, f16, f17, then whatever I need on GL20.3. For status its H_f24.
