LTM New Hires with Effective Date Change
We have been live on GHR/TA since June 2015. Over the last 9 months we have been struggling with a few of the processes, so I want to ask the group for some guidance.
First, we complete the new hire process with an effective date as current date not equal to the hire date to allow the data to pass to our identity management system early so that accounts can be set-up in preparation of the orientation.
So two instances that occur:
1. The transactions team complete the TA hire with the effective date the same as the hire date, which is typically at least a few weeks in the future. When they realize this occurs, the complete a term as a "No Show" and do another hire. This causes a second ID to be created. Both go the identity management system which causes errors.
QUESTION: How do others do the effective dating in relationship to the hire date? Do you make the effective date equal to the hire date? If so, what are the advantages or disadvantages if you need to make changes to the hire?
2. When a hire is completed, and there is a change in hire date. Because we do an effective date of current date, we do a term no show and then a rehire.
QUESTION: How do others handle changes to the hire date after the hire action is completed? Is it different if the date is moving to a later date compared to an earlier date?
Any information is appreciated.
