RAs, Distribution and Components

How do people usually handle traced products that need to be RA'd when you sell things through distribution?

What about subcomponents of a large machine for RA? If I sell a huge machine that has to be trucked, and a customer has a circuit board inside it the size of a post card fail, obviously I want them to send THAT back for repair. How do people usually handle those?
