Do Item numbers have a UID in the background?

We are having a discussion about creating a SKU# for every part and each of it's variables. Such as Part ABC will have SKU 00123 when purchased from Vendor A and SKU 00124 when purchased from Vendor B.

If we get a revised Part ABC from Vendor A that will then generate a new SKU 00125.

Does INFOR have the ability to track items in this fasion?

Any help suggestions would be great.

You can track by lot or serie Item
