PR297 W-2 Creation Errors and Correction
svarga
Ran PR297 and there is an employee that "no w-2 created negative data exists. How can I correct to make sure a W-2 is produced? There was a correction in Q4 for this employee, that is valid but earnings for the quarter are positive.
Also: Social Security/Medicare in arrears of .01 error message. How can I correct or is any change needed?

You need to run the PR297 with the report option (option tab) set to Negative Wage Report to find out what W-2 item is negative. Then you need to adjust the negative item using a PR82 to eliminate it so that you can create a W-2.

I ran the negative wage report and these items weren't listed. Not sure why the negative value report came back with no hit for the individual.
I am hesitant to correct the negative data via pr82 since it is legitimate.
There was a Q4 correction for the individual that created negative federal withholding. All other values were positive.

Is it a crossover of Reporting Entities and 1 is negative for withholding and another positive that was just posted incorrectly for a RE?
If that is the case the RE can be corrected with a PR82 to balance them out. As long as there is anything negative that is reported on the W-2 it will not produce a w-2 for that RE.

It was a reversal in Q4 that didn't have enough withheld to off-set the negative withholding.
I will do a PR82, but am afraid that this will overstate the amount withheld for the year.
