LS security testing scripts
unknown
Does anyone have a script or list of items they used for validating LS security? We have test scripts for application testing and are currently implementing LS9 security. I'm looking for something I can give my application leads to ensure they test everything from drills to sharing reports in print manager etc. I'd rather not re-invent the wheel. Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Diane,
We converted from LAUA security to LS Security about a year ago, and after going through the process I now believe that no amount of test can replicate what people do in production with all of the variables on daily/weekly/monthly/yearly processes. That's not to say you should try to recreate laua with LS Security (one LAUA security class = one LS Security role is not a good use of LS Security), but if someone needs x report in LAUA, they still need it in LS Security. Looking back, we should have spent more time doing data analysis from data dumps or reports. We did that for a few folks, and their access was much better than the folk for whom we did not do that access and who relied on physical testing of business processes. We had a pretty good grasp of LAUA security and had it locked down pretty tight, so we felt comfortable saying if they had it in LAUA they needed it in LS Security. It's difficult any way you do it, but for us, we had more success with testing (or "verifying") LS Security through analysis than with manual testing.
