BN106 - 834 file extraction
vita-lombardo
We are starting to look at the BN106 for our HIPAA data files for vendors. Can anyone suggest a EDI translator tool that is working well for them?

Did you ever receive a response to this?

I would also be interested in any information someone could share regarding the BN106 and HIPAA data transfer.

Sorry for the late response. We searched on our own and found a vendor to help us set up the mapping. We are not using the BN106 - I couldn't get it to work although I did speak to a user who did. We keep our retirees in a separate database so we have to pull data from 2 places prior to putting into the 834 format.

Can you share the user you found who did use the BN106?

Yes, I do use the BN106 to extract the data for our medical, dental and vision plans. I send a full file every week to our medical and dental vendors. After I run the BN106 for each of them I download the HIPAA834 file and our IT department uses OpenLINK to reformat that file to each of the vendors specifications. We do not send these files as 834 format files. (Our current medical vendor is Aetna)
I have also used Monarch to reformat the HIPAA834 file when we were sending it to UMR.
