COBRA processing in Lawson
unknown
We are looking to start using Lawson COBRA processing. Does anyone else use this function? If yes, would you be willing to answer a few questions I have about the steps and invoicing? Any help would be apprecaited.

I would also be very interested in any information we can obtain about setting up the COBRA process in Lawson, with the new ACA we need to start tracking for the feed to our new ACA vendor.

Wondering if you started using Lawson Cobra processing... We are wanting to start tracking Cobra in Lawson. Any tips or direction would be appreciated.

Trying to figure out if there is Lawson functionality to manage Retirees and/or Retiree Spouses who we've agreed to continue benefit coverage for an extended period of up to 5 years. My benefits team handles the enrollment eligibility piece manually to vendor in the past, so it's causing issues with automated file feeds to vendor because these participants are not in Lawson. Well, they are in Lawson if I think about it. They would be shown as R2 Retired status and dependent coverages are currently end dated. Can I have a R2 employee who is end dated on their medical coverage for example, but have their dependent spouse have medical coverage that is active? As I have been informed today, Benefits is internally handling the payments as well. Would be great if this was done in our system of record. I'd be grateful for any thoughts. We run v 9.0.1 and are in the process of upgrading to v10 over next several months.

We used Cobra as a place to set up a non-employee such as a spouse who was allowed to continue health insurance after the retiree aged off at 65. Using BN70/BN71 just like a regular Cobra but the set up in BN00.3 was its own type and for the maximum months allowed by Cobra = 99 months. The spouse got a separate 1095-C but did have Cobra noted on the form. Small price to pay to set up a non-employee with benefits. Hope this helps.

We only began maintaining COBRA and Retirees following ACA and still maintain outside databases for billing. Lawson's solutions have not met our needs there. In the event a Retiree's surviving spouse or dependent is to maintain coverage they are now entered as a retiree (our only non-employees in lawson with a few dummy fields, but otherwise as a retiree and become the primary policy holder). I've not explored if it was possible to have the coverage as you describe because our eligibility files and logic follow that lawson_employee is the parent record for an employee or retiree (with enrollments in lawson_benefit and lawson_partben respectively). On 10.0.6 having upgraded from 9 two or three years ago.

We're considering tracking COBRA enrollments in Lawson. I can figure out how to enroll them on the BN71.1, however I cannot seem to process a 2nd occurrence. The Ben Admin manual says to enter it onto the BN70.2, however when I do it put's the cobra term date back to one day prior to the cobra occurrence. Does anyone have any tips?
