Statistical Accounts in General Ledger
Legacy Contributor
I am looking for information on how to go about setting up a statistical account within General Ledger. How do you go about making an entry to the account once it is set-up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If a statistical account is the same as a 'unit', we used that previously for some items. You can set up a GL Account for 'headcount' for example, and do a journal entry to load headcount for each Acct Unit (every journal entry has to have an amount or unit). You can set up another GL Account for Square Footage or whatever other statistical measurement or counts you want to use.
As always, just play with it some in a test environment to figure it out.

Other considerations may include: 1-will you allow the stat account to 'O'nly include stat amounts, 'Y'es to both stat and dollar amounts, or 'N'o stat amounts allowed (GL00.3). 2-Stat journal entries do not need to be balanced; they can be one-sided entries. 3-Consider if the stat account's balance is to be reported as a balance sheet amount (such as square feet), or as an income statement amount (monthly visits or monthly meals) so to set it up in the proper Section (GL00.1).
