Mobile Supply Chain Location and Par Level Management
Legacy Contributor
Hi,
We are in the process of implementing a mobile supply chain application. We are curious to see how other facilities determined and assigned unit/bin locations for products and what your process was for assigning par levels for those respective products.
Thanks in advance!
John

John,
We set ours up with the bin and shelf as the same numbers. Since we are limited to 6 characters on the sequence field we kept the shelf location field at 6 characters as well. Also if you are going to be printing bar-coded shelf/bin labels keeping them all the same length aids in printing them in order for ease of application. We just did a simple set up for this. Our is set to row/aisle, shelf location, and then item location on the shelf. So for the item on a cart in the first row, on the top shelf, in the first or far left position would be 100101. Next shelf down would be 200102.
For setting par levels for the items to be located on a par location, we pulled a 1 year usage for the units supplies. We keep a 3 day par level on each unit, so we replenish every other day. So we pull the one year usage into Excel, with our 3 day suggested par levels, and have the unit coordinators review, and make any changes to the levels.

I'm sorry John, I made a mistake on the shelf naming. The second shelf, same position, same row would be 100201. Sorry for being so confusing.
