HRIS does, whenever we make changes to the criteria of a group or add groups, or are going to manually run another process that requires updated groups.
We appearently are lucky that our current setup is 'simple' enough that running it against all groups still completes in a reasonable timeframe however.
Our many consultants that have worked with us over the time have told us mulitple horror stories of a complete update taking days with some of their clients.

It is run anytime someone creates a new group or changes criteria in an existing group. It is run for that one group only.
I recommend if someone is changing criteria that they run a HR255 first to get a count. That way when the HR155 is run, you can see if it is correct.

In our organization, HRIS runs the HR155 because we maintin HR55.
I agree with the last post. Run an HR255 to get your before. Update HR55, and then run HR155 to see your group after the update.
If you run it for all groups, HR255 will also give you a list of which groups need an HR155 becuase their criteria have changed.
If we change HR55 but don't run HR155, Payroll won't process, so one of our payroll prep tasks is to run HR255 to verify nothing has been changed.

This is great information ! Thank you. I've been here for 13+ years and I don't think anyone has run it before. No one on the employment side knew anything about it. It is wasn't something that fell under my job scope so... I know have that task now

We run the HR155 every Tuesday morning, early. It is run with Update Option: 2 (ALL Groups; Changed Criteria). Update Absence Management: 1(No).
If we make any changes to an employee group then we also run the HR155 for that particualr employee group.

We run the HR155 when a group is added or criteria is changed. Some of our groups are used for benefit purposes and we don't want certain groups changing mid-year. For this reason, we are caution not to select the "All Groups" option.

We run the HR156 (which you can run for ALL Employee Groups or a sequence of Employee Groups) before processing LP maintenance (which is completed before a payroll is ran).
This is due to a couple of factors: 1) in the event you reach the limit of 800 Employee Groups (which is the point at which Employee Groups stop automatically updating) and 2) when a PA correction is made, the LP100 does not always pick up the change.
