Inventory Balance Report Issues

I am being asked to post this by our CFO:
If the Inventory Balance Report (under Manufacturing Journals) differs from the General Ledger, what utilities need to be run? The recalculation of inventory has been run. While that fixed some of the issue, a majority of it persists.

In my experience this is not an easy task and there is no single utility that will solve the issue. There could be many underlying problems and it often takes a lot of detective work to resolve. Personally we avoid running the inventory recalc because it takes days to run and sometimes recalculates in ways that we do not want.
Infor has some useful documentation that you might want to look at as a starting point if you have not done that already. For example KB 1530114
describes steps to take if you are in an actual costing environment.
We make a copy of our Live database at the end of every month and compare the inventory balance, inventory valuation, and the ledger to make sure things are looking good. If there any anomalies then we dig into the details manually. For example was there a change to the accounts associated with a product code? Were any new accounts or account groups created? Was there a new user not following procedures?
There may even be a problem with your inventory balance report...seems to me we had an incident open regarding the report at some time in the past. So it may just be the report that is the problem but you have to figure that out. You might try getting the latest report patch.

Thanks for the reply. Did you mean a different KB article? That one is for 7.1.2 and we are on 7.0.0. Also, it is title is "712 Global Scheduler hangs after starting new function 'Updating operation capacity usage counts.'"
I suspect we will be opening up a support case with Infor on this.

I don't feel alone now. We are having the same problem. The "fix" has been to run recalc inventory for us as well and we are having support dig into the issue for us. We are on 7.0 SP3.

Our CFO is working through the KB string mentioned by Gail. Start with 731068 then work through 1015071, 816227, 731193, and 732261.
We are also working with Infor support to help (one of those KB is missing some SQL that we needed), but it looks like we are on the path to recovery.
