Item Packaging Strings - Lawson Item Master

I am curious to know where other users record an items packing string information. We have been using the description 2 field in IC11, see attached image. We like this field because our end-users can see the packaging string in RQC. Are there other fields we can utilize?

We are on Lawson v9. We also update the IC11 UOM to reflect conversion factors.

We are also using Desc 2 field for packaging strings-same reasoning as you for RQC purposes. We use the User Field tab and the 5 alpha fields for add'l item info (type, brandname, latex/latexfree, etc. We have these fields set to be searchable fields to assist with end user search functionality.

We are on Lawson 10.03 and have found that putting additional packing string info in Description Field 2 messes up MSCM description so that the packaging info overrides the description on the Delivery ticket.

Any fixes for this yet?

We use description 2 to show Latex Status/Brand Name so end users can see it when the search. We train them on drill around to find the packaging string and build everything to the EA.

We also use Desc 2 for the packaging string info and have since 2004, also so it's easily visible to the end user in RQC. I was not aware of the that issue. We haven't upgraded to v10 yet but are not using R&D in MSCM.

In RQC, the UOM is a link - clicking it activates a popup with the uoms from the IC11 uom tab. It was part of the original SEA rollout so our users never looked for it elsewhere. We use D2 as the Epic "Alias" (IE Nurses description).

Thanks for the heads up about MSCM v10 - so it displays D1 and prints D2?
