LSF environment patching

Curious to see what others are doing when applying LSF patches. When applying patches to fix an issue, do you typically just apply the LSF patches? Or do you also install patches for EMSS, Common Browser, etc. And do you always redeploy Websphere? Also, what is your methodology for testing?

Due to the potential wide spread effects of patches to all these areas, we first apply the patches to our development area. Then we review the bug which was to be fixed. Depending on the patch we apply, we would also review all the basic system functions, such as inquiries, drill around, job creation, job submission, multi-step jobs, etc.

As a side note on this topic since I just got burned...there's a new "feature" of EMSS. EMSS does NOT require a separate install of Common Browser library as of 10.0.2+ (I think that's the cutoff). If you do upgrade CBL after installing/upgrading EMSS to 10.0.4 (in our case), bad things happen

We also apply ESP patches to our environment separately, test them out, then apply Application patches (MSP) later. EMSS is its own task and usually separated as well to identify bugs to a certain culprit if we do run into any.

This makes alot of sense for troubleshooting purposes.
