How to override Months of coverage on line 17 of 1095-C

We have employees who have been in a waive plan for the entire year. Our benefits specialist working on the 1095-C forms thinks the Months of coverage in Part III of the 1095-C form should be blank for these employees. The employee has a 1A offer of coverage on line 14 in all 12 months.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how we can accomplish this?

If you Offered the employee coverage that meets the 1A definition
(1A. Qualifying Offer: Minimum essential coverage providing minimum value offered to full-time employee with employee contribution for self-only coverage equal to or less than 9.5% mainland single federal poverty line and at least minimum essential coverage offered to spouse and dependent(s).) Then regardless if the employee enrolled in the coverage or not, you would report 1A because you are showing the IRS that you offered it to them.

Line 16 is where you would report which plan they chose, including the waive plan.

In this situation you listed, do you display covered individuals in Part III on 1095-C? Since this is a waive plan, we would not expect that covered individuals would be listed. Our BN297 is showing the employee enrolled in the waive plan as a covered individual.

That is interesting. We did not experience this issue, but we also had our file completed before many of the last patches were installed and we are also self insured, so either of those factors could make a difference.

We are seeing enrollments in Part III of 1095-C for the waive plan. I see someone else had this issue along the way, but does anyone know why the enrollments show - is it a plan setup issue? As far as we know, Part III should be blank for waive months.

We did not have this issue. You may want to check the priority & safe harbor code on the waive plan. We're using 9999 and WV. I'm wondering if it's the WV safe harbor code that prevents the enrollment from being listed in Part III.
