ESS New Hire Enrollment
megan-dwyer
We currently use the ESS for annual benefit enrollment and would like to use it for New Hire and Newly Eligible enrollment also. Is there anyone who uses this for all these options (or doesn't) and could share how the process works and any learnings?
Thanks!

You need to setup an employee group for new hires. Then reference it and the appropriate plans on the various BSxx applications. For example, on BS01 setup rule type N and the name of the group. As well as, on BS03.3.

We use ESS for New Hire and also for Annual Enrollment.
We allow new hires 31 days from their adjusted hire date to enroll in their benefits -- this is set up on the BS05.1 screen.
I do not have an employee group set up on the BS01.1 screen for the N (New Hire) rule and it works just fine.
I do have to use employee groups on the BS01.1 screen for new hires for the A (Annual Enrollment) rule. The criteria and dates for the A (Annual Enrollment) rules change each year depending on the dates we are using for Annual Enrollment.
It does get confusing for new hires during Open Enrollment, because they have to first do their "new hire benefit enrollment" and then do their "annual benefit enrollment". It does require a lot of communication!

The original post is from 3 years ago but wondering how things went with get New Hire on ESS up and running. We use ESS for Annual Enrollment and are in the process of adding New Hire Enrollment through ESS. Currently the Annual Enrollment process for loading records is done by the HRIS team. The Benefits group typically runs their own BN100s, Bn102, etc throughout the year. What is your process for moving the pending record from New Hires over to Active? Is it the same as Annual? (BS531, BN531, BN532)
