Law Sec Admin missing Query Display Window
tom
Has anyone had an issue with "Lawson Security Administrator" LSA Application --> User Maintenance window not providing the Window to display query results? Or New user information fields?
It will perform the User query but there is no window to display the results? If I select "New User" the window opens with the expected menu items "Edit" "Special Actions" but there is no table to enter any of the criteria in for the User?
Started happening on Friday? I am suspect of a Windows update, which I am to there was none, that has caused this to stop working but cannot prove that. Been working with INFOR but they are pointing to my environment.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous versions of the LSA tool. Installed on alternate workstation with same bad results. Had other Admins test their logon and it fails for them too. I have one other Admin whose desktop LSA has not been affected and her version is still working but I am fearful maybe the affecting update has not filtered to her yet and will soon be with out a capability to perform administration.
Any ideas on what might be affecting this?

I think I have seen this before, if it was the issue I think it is. You need to build out the query for it to display results. For Advanced, mine is set to "Access is blank." I'm trying to see if I can replicate the issue on another PC. Unless somebody beats me to the punch with a more detailed answer.

We had a similar issue and I agree with Rebecca, Advanced Tab, add something like 'ID is *' and see if any results return. Also, another item to check is with the toolbar icons, ie. 'New User, Edit User, Delete User and Display'. Click Display and be sure something has checks on the items you want returned.

Go figure, I've tried several different PCs and cannot replicate the issue.... I will keep trying, but otherwise let us know if you get it to work.

I have just discovered that our client infrastructure team is testing " Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) is a utility that helps prevent vulnerabilities in software from being successfully exploited" from MS.
They somehow got both my desktop and laptop into there testing configuration. They have been telling me for 2 days they have not rolled out anything and I needed to reach out to Lawson.
I am uninstalling EMET right now and will let you all know if that gets me back to normal.

Well wish full thinking. Uninstall of EMET did not resolve this issue. So still looking for a solution.

I've had the LSA settings get messed up and reinstalling doesn't clear them out. LSA stores it's settings in the windows registry under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREVB and VBA Program Settings
In particular for user administrator:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREVB and VBA Program SettingsLawsonUserAdministrator
You could try renaming that key and relaunching LSA to see if it comes back.

Thanks for the replies rainit and Rebecca.
I had already tried the HKEY regedit per INFOR Xtreme recommendation. Also tested an install on a clean system that never had been installed on before.
Seems like there must be something that configures the display parameters. Everything is just empty whether creating a new user or query of existing. Query runs and finds employee just wont display them so you can select them to modify or view them?
Seems like it is one of those things that will be trivial setting once I find it.

Does it behave the same if you start the LSA Admin by right click --> run as administrator?
tom
JJ , I did try running as admin but it does not work any differently when run as administrator.

All,
I am leaning towards MS EMET as the issue. since EMET has a bunch of "security features", like data execution prevention, it appears to have interacted negatively with LSA. The four computers I had yesterday, 2 are mine and 2 were test boxes, both had EMET on them unknown to me. I just got a 5th machine that did not have EMET on it and installed and worked as expected.
I will let you know more as I test a little more. The strange thing is 2 boxes will allow application to start but not display data. The other two crash the application before it ever presents to the end user. So seemed like different issues.
Also uninstalling EMET does not help, appears you have to reimage to get rid of it? That is still not tested, reimaging now to ensure that cleans up my original desktop.

We ran into the same issue. I did a webex with Lawson and they could not find anything as far as settings that were out of the ordinary. We uninstalled, and installed different versions, etc. I ended up installing on a PC that was bare bones and it worked. Just recently I got a new workstation and it now works again. I will mention that I do have EMET installed on my new workstation.

Hi Gary, That is interesting that you are running with EMET installed. We are only testing with EMET now and have not deployed to the whole site. It was pushed to my workstations by accident. Maybe some fine tuning is required to make things work and we haven't got that far along.
On my INFOR Incident they said they would setup a test box and test with EMET to see if they could reproduce the issues.
The worrisome part is it appears I have to re-image both of my computers to get this working again. Have to blow everything away and start over installing all my applications. Ouch. Still working on one to see if we can figure out why uninstall of EMET is not totally cleaning up?
unknown
Yeah, I uninstalled as much as I could including some security patches to no effect. Another team mate had the same issue and as soon as they got a new workstation, it worked again for them as well. I have EMET 5.2 if that makes a difference
tom
Did some additional work with our Client Infrastructure team. We were able to get the LSA application to work by disabling DEP within EMET application. So that is likely how you are now using LSA along with EMET running.

nice work!..I'll have to make a note of that one in case it happens again
