Cost Allocation Implementation

Hi all -

I'm looking to implement a cost allocation model using Lawson (10.4) and am reaching out to see if anyone has gone through the steps to implement simple allocations (occupancy - allocating from 1 accounting unit as cost pool) as well as more complicated allocations (multiple cost centers = cost pool).

I'm new to Lawson but familiar with the PeopleSoft ERP and looking for guidance on how to translate some of the setup steps into plain English. Please reach out of you have any tips or tricks for simple setup!

Hello, we have been with Lawson since the 1980's and have both simple and very complex Cost Allocations. rather then type out the various instructions, please feel free to give me a call.

We have used allocations on and off over the years, and are thinking of using them again, but I have run into one big stumbling block. We need the transactions to retain the original description rather than take the description in the allocation header. Have you come up with a solution for this?

Can't remember for sure, but try clicking on the 'more' button for each line, then miscellaneous, then description. I think that will be the JE description for everything in that line item, but you might need to test it to confirm.

DWeitz - if you figure out how to do this, please let me know. I had a similar requirement from one of my groups that would like to utilize Lawson allocations as well but I was not able to find a solution. I thought that the Posting Options would be able to accommodate this request, but I was not able to make it work.

Jason is absolutely correct, whatever description you have entered under the "more" button will be the description that posts to GL
