MSCM Handheld Management.
d-hofmann
Is anyone using any management software to configure the handhelds they are currently using with Lawson Mobile Supply Chain Management?
With over 50 handhelds at 5 different sites, DNS server changes or WIFI setting changes pose a bit of a problem.
Also, changing the handhelds to all point to our new Lawson 10 MSCM server, seems a bit overwhelming.
Thanks,
Melissa

Check out soti --- www.soti.net and for a trial/install you may be able to work out a deal with Chris Kane @ Emkat ---

They have been our handheld vendor for quite a while, and really like soti.
We tried it, but decided not go implement it because of budgetary concerns.

Hi Melinda,
Yes we're using SOTI MobiControl that we purchased through Emkat. I really like it, and much prefer it over the old Motorola MSP tool. Provided it can communicate with the server that SOTI is deployed to, then the DNS and Wifi changes shouldn't be a problem. The nice thing about it over the other solutions I've seen is that it uses TCP to push out packages rather than FTP, making the configuration much more simple. I'm really impressed with the support too. There have been a few snags that have needed to be ironed out but I've always got a timely response and I always feel confident that a solution is coming.
We're supported directly via Emkat, the engineer I've been working with is Tim Tassone. I can forward you his contact information if you like.

Here at ST Josephs we also use SOTI supported via EMKATT. It works very well and in the last 12 months I have pushed wto MSCM updates via SOTI interfaces and it was seamless and simple. EMKATT support helped me set up the deployment packages and trained me to deploy to my test hand held devices. I was able to reproduce the mass deployment easily at go live to 30 additional devices.

I agree with using SOTI, EMKAT, and Tim Tassone: Excellent Software, Vendor, and Engineer.
Can't say enough good things about them.

We just implemented a first phase of Infor products. Our second phase is the entire supply chain including mobile handhelds for our store room. Probably only 10-15 handhelds but after trying to read through user groups to see what kind of issues or things I should be aware of as we prepare for phase 2, it appears from this post I should look at this product to assist managing handhelds? If not, it sounds like updating them for patches, network changes is a challenge. If anyone would like to shoot me an email or just post here with other input, I would greatly appreciate it.
