Vendor rating of deliveries
unknown
The purchasing dept and the quality dept want a way to rate our vendors on how well they keep thier delivery dates. What I have done is I wrote a program that gets all the deliveries (Receivers) for a time period and then gets the corresponding purchase order info. The problem is that we use delivery schedules alot. The receivers do not keep track of which delivery schedule line it is pointing to so I can get the appropriate want date. (Schedule delivery date)
Does anybody do any rating of your vendors deliveries and how do you do it?

At my previous company, we did this with a Crystal Report, and could compare with delivery schedules with no problem....are you using a desired received date on the purc_line_del table?

Yes,
What I should explain is we are an electronics job shop that puts together printed circuit boards. We order all the electronis parts and boards and have pick and place machines that put the boards together. So we deal with a lot of different electronic components. There are times when we return some of them for defects of some sort.
So what happens is we setup a delivery schedule lets say 5 lines with 100 parts per line to be delivered on or about the first of the month. The first shipment comes in fine. Then second shipment comes in and sometime during the next week or two quality finds 4 defective parts. they return them and get an rma. Unfortunatly it may take 6 to 8 weeks (or more) to get the replacements. In the mean time the next scheduled shipment comes in. Visual now takes 4 parts puts them on delivery schedule line 2 and the rest on delivery schedule line 3 and updates the actual receive dates for both lines. Now the replacements come in and visual puts them on line 3 and updates the actual receive date for line 3.
I would like to have the person receiving out back be able to select the delivery schedule line and have that line stored in the receiver. This would fix this problem.
Hope this helps you understand what is going on.
Thanks for your help.

Hmmm, I thought they could pick the delivery line to receive against. Are you sure they can't?

The purchase order delivery schedule line (stored in PURC_LINE_DEL) may be (outer)joined to the RECEIVER_LINE_DEL table, which identifies the purchase order delivery schedule line. You would then, of course, need to (outer) join to the RECEIVER table to determine the actual receive date.
