North Carolina State Withholding Tax
unknown
Hello,
Our North Carolina State Withholding PR14 ended without our intervention mid January. Did this happen to anyone else with employees in North Carolina? We are relooking at BSI updates to make sure we did not miss something.
Thank you,
Maureen

We contacted BSI and they had us install Cyclic Version J, and that took care of it for us.

Thank you so much! We did not put that cyclic upgrade in yet because it stated it was for payrolls to non-resident aliens in North Carolina. Are your NC residents non-resident aliens?
marty
We only have one, but no, we have his PR13 set to Resident=Y. You could install the cyclic into a dev system and see - it fixed our problem instantly.

Thank you for you help Jenn!

After reading this I am concerned that I might be missing something in NC. Was it only for non-resident aliens or all NC employees state taxes? I see we are taking taxes but don't want to miss something
unknown
We found it was for NC residents. The NCWH tax automatically stopped in January and we did not notice. Then when we tried to re-add, the system would not take, so we had to add through the user tax deductions on pr13.7. We have not applied the Cyclic Version J mentioned by Jenn above. When we apply it, we will be testing the NCWH tax again to see if the system will set it. We are on Lawson 10.0.6.

I am 9.0.1 - So it sounds like not everyone NC State withholding stopping. It is more a hit and miss situation. Is this true?

We are currently testing Cyclic J (Lawson apps 10.0.6) - it does not appear to resolve our issue. I am wondering if we are missing something? Our NC W/h tax stopped in February whenever a personnel action was processed or it never attached if we had a new hire. We've worked around this by adding the tax manually on the PR14 and then the user tax on the PR13.7. We have a large employee population in North Carolina, employees that work and live in the state. If you run a PR113 for those employees, Lawson wants to end the withholding and change the resident flag on the PR13 to N.

We have not applied cylic J, but we are on apps 10.0.6 and had the same experience that you did. We fixed the same way you did, but we can manually monitor since we only have 5 employees in NC. It sounds like an incident should be created with Lawson.
