Smoker Flag in ESS screen
unknown
Can anyone tell me the specific screen or form in ESS where the Smoker Flag (acknowledgement) actually appears? Is it supposed to appear in the plan elections choice screen? I have already tried it and it does not appear anywhere so far in ESS. If the correct plan(s) are set up in the BS screens for Smokers, then what is the screen in which it appears in ESS for the employee to actually choose it? THis is in ESS version 9.0.1.7 and above.
The documentation for ESS doesn't say, and Infor/Lawson doesn't seem to know either.
Thanks for your help.

As far as I have seen the employee smoker flag doesn't appear for viewing or update in Lawson's provided ESS. We modified the code of the Personal Information screen to display it, but there isn't an update screen.
It does show correct rates on the Enrollment forms, just doesn't tell you what your value is.

We created a custom ESS screen for our annual benefit enrollment that included legalease that essentially served as a sworn affidavit. We coded the screen to update the Smoker flag on the Benefit Flags tab of HR11.
We inserted this screen before the actual canned Lawson benefit enrollment screens so their employee groups would be updated before the enrollment screens launched, since we had different rates for smokers/non-smokers.

We customized ours as well.
I think it is delivered in 10.

Though never implemented, this was the case for us while we were in development. Screens had to be adjusted and logic added to handle the value.

There is a benefit flag on BN32.1 but you would have to enter that yourself.

FYI...... Looks like 901 apps and 10 EMSS
This is from a Inforum slde.
Employee Self-Service Benefits
•Benefit Enrollment Rules (BS01.1) applied to "Current" benefits. (9.0.1 HRM; 9.0.1.6 EMSS)
•New options to incorporate dependent and smoker status updates within benefit enrollment process (9.0.1 HRM; 10.0.1 EMSS)
•New Rules to Control Which Plan Types Allow Beneficiary Designations. (9.0.1.8 HRM; 10.0.1 EMSS)
•New option to display pay check deduction amount for benefit election (9.0.1 HRM; Coming soon to EMSS!)

This enhancement was introduced with EMSS version 10.0.1.0. You must be running 10.0.1.0 EMSS or greater and 9.0.1.8 applications or install the CTP for JT-118706 if on an app version less than 9.0.1.8 (this will update BS01 so you have the flags for these two options). There will be screens towards the begining of benefits enrollment that will allow you to add a dependent and flag yourself as a smoker. From the release notes;
Feature: Allow Dependent/Smoker Status updates during benefits
enrollment.
Description: Fields have been added to Benefit Enrollment Rules (BS01.1) to identify if the employee should be presented with a screen to add/change dependent information and/or a screen to verify and update their status as a smoker or non-smoker as they begin the benefit enrollment process for Annual, New Hire, and/or Life Event enrollments.
Related JTs: JT-43073, JT-72441, JT-118706
This feature requires HR 4GL Applications 9.0.1 or higher. The CTP for 4GL
JT-118706 is required if running HR 4GL Applications 9.0.1.7 or lower.

Hello. How are folks using the new Smoker flags during the enrollment process? Currently, our health plans have multiple coverage options - half the coverage options are valid for smokers and half for non-smokers. In the past, we have relied on the employee to choose the appropriate options (with a signed affidavit as a follow up). I would like to be able to use the smoker flag to limit the coverage options displayed to those applicable to smokers/non-smokers accordingly. Is this possible?

We customized our OE process to add the smoker question first. It does affect rates our employees see for life insurance rates. I am thinking it should work the same way for other plans including health. Also, I am not sure but the smoker question may be one of the items added to the apps 10 process with EMSS v 10.

Oops. I hadn't read above. I see Kevin responded that smoker is an apps 9, EMSS 10 enhancement. We are still on emss 9

Thank you for the response. Yes, I have loaded EMSS 10.0.4, and the enrollment process does prompt the user for the smoker statuses. I'm curious as to how these statuses can be used to restrict the coverage options displayed for Health plans. Do you know how your Life plan determines which rates to display to the user? Thanks

BS01 has a newer enhancement to gather the Smoker status during open enrollment. Also, you can have unique cost tables with the EE group using the HR11 Smoker flag as criteria so that declaring smoker "Yes" drives me to a higher rate table.

HI All.. I know this is an old thread but we are just instituting this flag and I'm trying to get the security setup in both laua security and LSF security.. can someone tell me what is needed so they can update this flag in LSF?
