We have a customer we're upgrading from FACTS 7.5 to 7.7, and migrating from AIX to Windows 2008. They have an old dot matrix printer on a JetDirect (static IP address) that they use to print pick tickets (they like the carbonless "write through to all copies").
When we ran into this situation before on Windows 2003 servers, we would create a new printer on the server via the Add Printer Wizard, Local Printer (uncheck the automatically detect device, create a new TCP/IP port, etc.). Then, we'd share the printer and use the server's UNC and printer share name for the DEVICE when creating the ProvideX link file (ex: \factsserverprinter1).
However, we can't seem to get this to work in a Windows 2008 environment. Has anyone had experience similar to this, and how did you resolve it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
