User Access Audit

I am assuming this has been asked somewhere before, but looking thru the topics I didn't see it. So...Is there a way to track user access in the Lawson system that would show us, who logged in, when, what they tried to access, if a user has ever logged in, etc. I know there are auditing options in SecAdmin that you can turn on, but was told by Infor that those are for debugging purposes only. I also know of other companies that provide a software solution for this type of reporting. We have this need. Any thoughts?

In Infor Security Administration you can turn on monitoring. There is some configuration to have it run seperate from security.

I have heard of ISS. Is that something that comes with LSF or is it purchased separately?

ISS is for use with Landmark technology/applications. Otherwise you can do everything in SecAdmin. I have heard warnings about turning on all of the logging capabilities due to the space required for those log files, but I have no personal experience with that.

Yes, Infor says the security admin logs are for debugging only and will cause performance issues if left on all the time.

ISS is available for LSF 9.0.1.12 or higher or 10.0.5.0 or higher. Though it's main function is for federating LSF and Landmark, the user admin tools are nice in themselves. There was a ICYHH webinar on ISS on May 21 (recording and powerpoint are available at www.infor.com/.../20150129-fms-lawson-icyhh)

ISS is free and can be installed on LSF and will bring all of the monitoring that you asked for earlier. You must be on LSF 9.0.1.6 at a minimum unless you are federated with Landmark then LSF must be at 9.0.1.9 minimum and it installs just like a patch. I haven't had a chance to install and play with it myself yet, but I will be doing so soon. I don't know and haven't heard about it's reporting functionality but it will capture the user monitoring data that you are looking for. If you are on LSF 10.? ( I can't remember exactly which version) ISS will also bring you user auditing which will tell you what each user did in what module.

If you find you cannot get what you need from ISS there are third party tools that track user activity too. Kinsey and Kinsey is one; they are one of the partners that has a booth at the user conference. They fill a certain gap market.

Does anyone know if ISS tracks users logging into Portal or EMSS?
I have not found a good way to do that other than manually sifting through IIS and Lawson logs which is not very appealing.
