Running background UNIX script from the job scheduler
unknown
We have a unix script that runs in the background that monitors a variety of system activities. Normally we start the script from the UNIX prompt, however it would be convenient to have the job scheduler start the script using RECDEF.
I built a job that successfully starts the script in background, however after submitting the job, it continues to run in the job scheduler. This is similar to behavior we see when we run the ED330 job. Once the script starts ED330 continues to run until someone kills it.
I assume this behavior is because the job scheduler is not receiving some signal back that the job is complete.
Does anyone know how to make the job go to completed status after the script is started?

In your UNIX script are you using wtsubmit ? Submit batch job and wait. Based on your original post, I'd assume so. There is another Lawson command that will do the same thing, but not wait. jqsubmit.
Check that out and post back!

We have similar Unix scripts that monitor the health of our system and they are all run via the Unix Cron scheduler.

Yeah, that's what I figured.
Greg, these are unix commands within a script, not lawson jobs submitted within a script.

If on Unix and do not want to RECDEF, try using the 'at' command. Also, try 'crontab'.

We use tokendef when we want to do this - see attached. Then you can call this token from any Lawson job that you have created, or create a new one.
