Hi
Anyone of you experts have implemented LN 6.1 (FP3) on Solaris 10? Please share your experience? How is the performance? what is the DB?
Thanks in advance,
nawelk

Hi,
we're planning to go live with FP3 this year with compareable configuration/combination. Currently we only run FP3 in our test environment which consists of "low performance" hardware (test server has only 2 cpus and 4 GB memory, also Informix DB + Solaris + LN FP3 are on same drive). But in comparison to our old FP1 test environment we can say that it runs much slower... I believe that on our "live-server" FP3 will run much better. Expect feedback after our "go live".

We have recently switched from FP1 to FP3. In general we can say that the performance in most standard applications (sessions) is quite the same as in FP1. But in some cases we have faced huge performance dropdowns (for example a session which runs in a nightly job runs now with the same parameters set more than 20 hours instead of approximately 12 hours before). Fortunately it was able to boost the performance of some sessions by using parallel servers or/and table boosters - but this options are rarely available since not every session can run in parallel threads. Sure, we also should install all the latest solutions which may also speed up the applications but it is not easy íf there are many customizations.
Other thing is that - maybe because of lack of knowledge of the consultants or/and simply not avaiable consultants - we have faced many problems regarding to parameters which have to be set if you install a Baan - environment from the scratch. In my opinion lots of the problems could be minimized if there would be a proper documentation in the customers language...
The last thing is that using many customizations you can test as long and as hard you like, after the go-live of the new release/system problems concerning your customizations will appear for sure. Therefore do not understimate the testing (detailed testing concept is vitally important).
We currently also have a nice number of open incidents and we hope that we can obtain solutions asap...
